The Cerakote Process
Cerakote is a specialized coating process that enhances the durability and corrosion resistance of various items, including firearms, automotive components, and tools. The process begins with the complete disassembly of the item to ensure each part can be individually coated. All components are thoroughly cleaned and degreased, followed by surface preparation through sandblasting to improve adhesion.
The Cerakote is then meticulously applied using a spray gun, available in a variety of colors for customized finishes. Once coated, the parts are cured in an oven at approximately 250°F (120°C) for about two hours, which hardens the coating and permanently bonds it to the surface. After cooling, the item is reassembled, undergoing a final quality check to ensure the coating’s integrity and the item’s functionality.
This process is highly valued for its ability to significantly enhance resistance to wear, impact, chemicals, and harsh conditions, thereby extending the lifespan of the coated item.
